Meeting About New Village Hall

The Village Board met Tuesday evening January 25, 2011 for a Committee of the Whole meeting. The Village Board assessed the comments that were made at the informational meeting and discussed the current Village Hall needs. The Board evaluated the options proposed and agreed unanimously to move forward with the intent on building a new hall building in the downtown site with construction starting in early summer. The Village Board understands the current economic conditions and the impact this will have on residents. We all live here and will experience individual cost impact that it will have. The Board agrees that a new Village Hall is desperately needed and will have to be constructed with in the next two years. Due to the current economic conditions, the Board feels, now is the time to acquire the best interest rate and construction bids which will produce savings to the tax payer over the course of the next 20 years.

There will be a non-binding referendum question regarding the project on the ballot for the Spring 2011 election which will take place on April 5th. Village Attorney Bill VandeCastle will formulate the question along with a definition of what a yes or no response indicates.

The Village wants everyone to know exactly what they will be voting on. With that intent in mind, the Board will do everything they can to inform/educate the community on the project. Cost perimeters have been established for the project which limits the building size and layout. Various drafts are being reviewed by the building committee and department heads. The committee is working diligently on a finished product. As it becomes available, it will be presented on the Village web site at www.thevillageofpulaski.org and in the PULASKI NEWS.

Board members are more than willing to meet with individuals or groups to discuss in detail the plans for the project. We desire for the electors to make an informed and educated vote and want to supply you with the correct facts in order for you to do so. If you have a question or concern, please email info@villageofpulaski.org and a response will get back to you.
